What’s Coming Up!! Events for Mental Health

In Blog

There is a lot going on for Mental Health over the coming months and I thought I’d give you and update and direction on where you can get more information and get involved!

September is also known as Liptember! Liptember is an organisation raising funds and awareness for Women’s Mental Health. They have partnered with Chemist Warehouse to create the Liptember Bag; for $40 you receive a reusable tote bag filled with amazing product, valued at over $300. I purchased one myself and am in awe of the incredible products inside. Share your purchase online with the hastag #liptember & #GetLippy to let other women know! They encourage people to wear lipstick and share pictures with the hashtag, to raise awareness and grow the online community. This is a great initiative and a fun one to be involved with!

Some other really important dates are coming up in September. R U OK Day? Is on Thursday the 13th of September and World Suicide Prevention Day is Monday the 10th of September. www.ruok.org.au has information around how you, your workplace, sporting team or other group can get involved. Suicide is the leading cause of death for young people aged 15-44 years of age, with approximately a third of all deaths in this age group occurring due to suicide (ABS, 2018). As a nation we need to start talking to each other, because a conversation can save a life. If you ask someone is they are thinking about suicide and they say yes, it’s really important to get them to a professional.
